Reports have been written in Crystal XI and put in a shared folder.

We have written an application which uses the viewer.

When a user previews a report the report is locked. We do not want these files to be locked and previously they were not. The difference in the reports are inserted OLEs which are used within footers. The file size has increased approx 67K ro 2000K.

By experimenting I found that the records were not locking upto 900 or so K but above 1200K the locking occurs.

Problem is with users previewing the reports more than 19 times a day on the twentieth lock the report refuses to open.
