Hi,

i'm new to crystal report.
how can i use the running total field on header of the report?

i want the total to be show on header rather than on the footer.

if it can not be done, is there any other way to do this?

I would assume that you place your running total in the header...

I know that page headers will use the latest data (though I am not sure about report headers)...so this might be a work around, place the running total in the page header instead of the report

RTs only work on or below the location of the data it is evaluating (details section or footers).
You can use
Summary functions
crosstabs
sub reports
graphs/charts
to show data in headers

yes, I understood that...

so in a page header, the running total from the last page should be available...if it is 0 because it is the first page, well that is the total as of the start of the page.

It was an idea...

Of course DBlank, your answer is more complete

Sorry lockwelle, didn't mean to jump in on it so abruptly. Embarrassed

Just wanted to clarify that placing it in the page header would show an amount that had been read from the previous page(s). On subsequent pages it also may include the first row from the current page. I think it depends on which section the page break occurred (if you have groups). On the first page it would only show the value from the first row in the data set.
