I got" Failed to open the connection" error message when adding a crystal report to BO environment.
 
Here is the steps I took before receiving the error message
 
1. Select a folder from public folder that I want to a crystal report ito be added
2. Select a crystal report which needs to be added and check box “Use description from report”, and then click “OK”
 
Does anyone know who to fix the problem? Thanks!

What type of connection are you using in the report?  If it's ODBC, is the same ODBC connection set up on the BO server? (MUST be 32-bit connection unless you're on the latest version of BO.)  Whether it's ODBC or not, is the database client software installed on the BO server? (Again, MUST be 32-bit unless you're on the latest version of BO.)

Hi,
 
As in the above mentioned try using ODBC connection or else try OLAP connection any one should work. Please use appropriate credentials as required by the connection.

I use ODBC connection. Our BO is connected to database called "A", my crystal report is connected to a different database called "B". Is that possible to add a crystal report pointed to a different database than BO.  Thanks so much for your time and help!

You have to have an 32-bit ODBC connection to database B set up on your BO server so that the server can connect to B.  Reports in BO run on the BO Server so the server has to have the connections set up for the reports it's responsible for running.
