Hi all,
I just started using Crystal Reports - took the intro class via Blackbaud last week, and am signed up for the Intermediate class in a week or so. I learned enough in the first class to create a simple giving report for my boss, but I'm stuck on one part and I think I need to use formulas to do it (but haven't a clue how since that wasn't covered in the beginning course).

I have the giving of all constituents in this fiscal year summed on the report and that's all working fine, but I need to show that # compared to the goal we have set at our organization and I'm not sure how to set that up so that CR will calculate the % of the goal that we have received to date. The goal isn't a field in RE, so I can't use the Sum function...

Hopefully that makes sense - I can clarify more if not! Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks!

if i understand you correctly just use the static goal value typed  into a formula
sum(giving) % goal

Aaah! It worked! Thank you so much! I knew it was simple, but don't understand formulas in CR well enough yet to figure out how it should be written. Thanks again!!

Hmm ok so this works, but it only gives me the % of the entire group. Is there any way to find the % of each group/by constituent code? So I have some coded as individual and I have the sum and some coded as major donors and the sum - I want to know what the separate % of the total is for each group.

group on consituent code and use the group totals (in the group footer or header)
sum(giving,constituent) % goal
