I developed some reports and all were working fine.  Then one day out of the blue, the reports decided not to work.  When crystal viewer could not open the report; the error "Query engine error" occurs.

Why is this happening?  I tested the files again on another development computer and the report runs fine.

Did you install the .NET Framework 2.0 on the computer crashing Crystal Reports? If so, it appears that this is a known bug and you should download the latest service pack.

Yes this error occurs on the server which has .Net Framework 2.0.  But it also happens on my WinXP development workstation which does not have .Net Framework 2.0.  Are you referring to the latest crystal service packs?

Check out the BOJB support site. I did a search on your error message and dozens of results appears. Seems like lots of things can trigger this. You should read through it to see which ones apply to your situation.

Hi,
Where do I find the ASP.NET verion on my machine ?
I looked in the About of my VS Studio 2005 and it lists the .Net Framework 2.0.50727 . O I think I run ASP.NET version 2.0.

How where do I get the fix for this error ?

There are many reasons why you could get this error.  I had found out the reason for the error was because my dataset and the report fields did not match up.  To see if this is our problem you might want to create a simple report and see if you get the error.
