I am converting from a Clarion Database to a SQL database, switching from Clarion Report Writer to Crystal Reports XI.  I have recreated a label report within CR that looks good.  I created the layout, in Page Setup selected the Dymo Labelwriter 310 and the form layout in CR changed perfectly.  I saved the report and installed it into our new application using the Crystal RDC program.  When launched and selection critera is met the label shows up and prints fine.  However, in Clarion I was able to add a string to the file name and the Windows Print Manager name of the printer and when selection was made and the end-user clicked the OK the label printed directly to the printer rather than receiving the preview of the label and requiring clicking on the print button and selecting the printer.  Can CR XI handle the same?  If so, I am just starting my experience with CR, so I would need some help regarding any coding.  Basically I need the report to launch, select the criteria, click OK and it prints.  Help appreciated.

What language are you calling the report from? The ReportObject class has a Print() method which sends the report directly to the printer with no prompting by for the user.

After reviewing your response with my partner here who is an Access, PHP, html, you name it programmer we are not sure what your statement is requesting.  The database is a Microsoft SQL database, we are using Crystal Reports ver XI to pull in the data to create the report.  When completed and saved it is placed back onto the SQL server.  The Clarion SQL software that performs all of our Law Enforcement Records keeping is developed by Emergitech.  From within that program the end-user can select Custom Reports which launches the Crystal-RDC ver XI program to view reports.

Oh, I see. Since the program Emergitech is the one opening and calling the Crystal RDC, then it would have to be modified to just call the Print() method instead. I assume this is a third party application and that you don't have access to the source code. Thus, you would have to make a feature request to the software authors to implement this.

Ok, thanks I think I understand now that the Crystal Reports RDC Active XR Report View would need to be modified within that coding to handle the direct print option.  I just thought their might be a way to write it into the Crystal Report XI Developer and attached it to the Report Header to automatically run it.

As I indicated before in Clarion Report Writer and the application when it was in an ODBC type database I was able to place in the startup line the code something like this, excecute the report from T:\ETI\REPORTS\Inmate File Jacket.TPS /D "Dymo LabelWriter 310".  This launch path sent the report directly to the printer, I just thought Crystal might support the same thing.

Thanks for your help.

Oh, I see. I never heard about CR having that feature. But it sounds pretty cool. Surprised they never added it.
