    Posted: 13 Jul 2009 at 7:26am
Hello.  I don't know if this is even possible, but does anyone know how to utilize an Excel data sheet as a data source when saving a report out to Enterprise?  My report runs fine from my computer, but when I save it publicly to Enterprise, it fails every time and says I have incorrect logon parameters.  Since it's an Excel sheet, I don't really have any logon parameters, so I guess I have two questions:

1) Is it even possible to do this in the first place?
2) How do I create logon parameters for the Excel file if it is possible?

I'm just using a standard Excel file saved to My Documents, so I don't even know if this is possible.

Thanks for any help you can provide!  Mike

You have to locate the Excel file in a shared folder on the network and use a UNC path to connect to it.  Then your BO system has to be configured to run using a network user ID that has access to the file - by default, BO is configured to run using the default "LocalServices" account on the machine where it's installed.  This account does not have access to any network resources and needs to be changed in the CCM in order to get this to work.  Best practice is to have a network "services" account set up that will only be used to run BO and where the password doesn't expire.
