Hi all,

I am trying to connect to an Oracle database from CR 2008. It keeps saying there is a TNS error and cannot find the db.

Other apps are connecting fine (SQLPlus, Excel etc) just CR not.

Anyone know how CR knows where the tnsnames.ora file resides ?

I am thinking it might be a path problem but cannot check as our laptops are locked down so cannot edit the path.

Bit strange how other apps work though.

FYI I am connecting through the ADO driver.

Many thanks

Do you have the Oracle ADO drivers installed?  (Not the Crystal ADO driver, the one from Oracle.)

Also, why are you using ADO instead of a native Oracle connection?  The native connection is faster and provides more features.

In Crystal, when you're creating your connection, instead of going to ADO for your connection type, scroll down to Oracle and create an Oracle connection.
