Input welcome from all..

I have a simple report (for a change) with details some IT equipment along with there make, models, IPAddresses etc.

What would be really usefull, is if I could somehow ping each PC and report whether communications are working, in simplistic terms;
If ping = null then "failed comms"
If ping <> null then "comms ok"

The database does not hold any data based on the communications, just the IPAddress

I dont believe this is possibile to ping from within Crystal, but I could write a programme to create a .txt file with the IPAdress and the communication status. Is it possible to import this data from a .txt file during collection of the data from the server, and how would I link the information using the IPAddress as the 'key'

Please let me know if this is not possible
