Hello,

we just recently upgraded from Excel 2003 to Excel 2010. We have a crystal report that read an Excel file. After the upgrade when we try to run it, we receive an error message OBDC Error: MS engine could not find the object.
We converted the Excel file from 2003 to 2010 and the name hasn't changed. The only thing that's different is that the Excel file used to be .xls and now is .xlsx.
Has anyone run into this ?

Thanks in advance.

Crystal will only export to and read from .xls files - it will not work with .xlsx files.  AFAIK, there is no work-around although I expect that the next version of Crystal may read the new format.

I wonder when they intend to do it. Thanks for letting me know.

There is supposed to be a new version coming out early next year.  However, I have not heard for sure whether this part of it has been updated.
