Is it possible to prevent certain fields from being physically printed out?

For example certain elements should only appear on the screen and not on paper (if someone were to actually use paper for whatever reason)

i have not seen any solution for this... I recall someone suggested a hypothetical .net solution with special coding on an embedded 'print' button but that was just an idea not a proved solution.

This is from another site I frequent but it looks a little extreme and I can't say how feasible it would be for you in this instance:

You can create a sub report of the same report. This means the main report has a copy of itself as a sub report. This way you'll have two copies of the same report when you print. You can edit whichever one you want to display/hide information.
