Please help me with the following:  Linking a number field from one Excel Spreadsheet (F1) to an OBDC database string field from a different database (PR1_EmployeeMaster_EmployeeNumber).  I want to link the OBDC database employee string (example 010, 356, 624) with my excel spreadsheet number (10, 356, 624).  I am needing to join the OBDC databases department field (string,2 positions) with the excel spreadsheet's employee ID to return a result such as A30000010, C30000356, OB0000624.

Please give me specific information....I'm pretty new at Crystal writing.

Basically you have 2 separate DB's so it can't be done.Is the information on the spreadsheet in the ODBC database somewhere?

With the research I did, it looks like an expression or command could be done to work around these incompatibilities.  Do you know if that is possible?

You should be able to query the data in two seperate command objects (the will each return a data set or table), then you can link the command objects in by the employee string. This is done in the DataLinks tab of the database expert This assumes this field exists in both and can be used to relate the command objects. They also need to be the same data type. If you need to change a data type you will need to do that in the command objects.

Hope this helps
