If CR.NET is available as a part of VS why would one want to purchase CR XI seperately?

Unless it provides some dramatic difference and improvements over CR.NET it seems like a big waste for a VS developer or there organization to make such a purchase.

Am I missing something here?

Can someone provide me with some insight on this one?

CR XI has many more features than CR.NET. No comparison. CR 2008 is coming out in Jan/Feb and is a great upgrade as well. Plus, it's not such a big waste of money. You can upgrade for like $199 to the developer edition.

Some cool things off the top of my head are dynamic cascading prompts, much better report designer (you have to use it stand alone though), and now with R2 upgrade (free) you can do runtime report modifications. This is pretty stellar. There's other stuff too, but I'm exhausted right now and need to go to bed. Check out their site for the standard feature comparison lists.
