I have a report that returns an accurate record when a select statement is used.  Once a parameter is created and placed in the report, the prompt comes up and when a specific record is entered, the results are returning every record in the database.

Has anyone else come across this?

Did you use the prompt in the select expert or in a command (SQL statement)?

I would like to use a parameter so that a user can enter the info to get a record instead of all of them.

I am creating the parameter in Crystal Reports 2011

You did not answer the question:  Did you use the parameter in the select expert or in a command (SQL statement)?  If you did not, then the results will not be filtered.

Yup, you are right about not answering the question.  That is because I had not used the parameter in the select expert.  Once I did, the report and parameter worked and returned the one record.

I'm very new to CR, so thanks for asking the question.  It helped me figure out that I had missed a step.
