I am rewriting a report in CR Xi R2 that has been working just fine in 8.5.  The report connects to an Access database.
The message I am getting is "Failed to retrieve data from database".  The next message says "Database Connector Error: 'DAO error Code: 0xd20 Source:DAO.Database Description: Query is too Complex.'"

There are about 40 tables in the report (this is fewer than were in the 8.5 version of the report).   I have changed, 1-by-1, all the links to 'left outer'.

Does anyone have any suggestions/help/ideas? (BTW, I have tried different versions of MS Access db's with CR Xi R2; the preferred db is MS Access 2007).

FYI: I do not believe CR XI R2 will support a DB that is in 2007-2010 format.

I am surprised that a 8.5 report converted to a newer version would have this error.  Of course is it is based on the connector.  I do not know if you have tried creating (or if it feasible within your setup) to create an ODBC connection.

I downloaded the latest MS Access ODBC drivers, created an ODBC connection (32 bit) and connected to that from CR Xi.  All seemed fine and dandy... until the dreaded query error.
Am I hitting some kind of XiR2 or MS Access2007 boundry?

I do not have any more suggestions.  Unfortunately we have moved on from CR XI R2 (CR 2011), so I do not have a way to test it.
