I'm using a Visual Foxpro app and Crystal v9 to export to XLS, the output loses shaded areas and the formatting is a little rough! Any ideas if I upgrade to a later version of Crystal will it resolve the problem and will it work with Visual Foxpro 7

The data source does not matter. Exporting to Excel is and has been an issue. Since you are stating that you are losing some formatting. Then I am assuming that you are not exporting Excel data only. Either way a lot of graphical items will not export.

Thanks for your response, do you know if later versions of Crystal will give better results when exporting to XLS ?

Not that I recall. We are on Crystal Reports 2016 and still face a lot of issues exporting out to Excel.
