i'm a brand new user of crystal.  i created a report that pulls data from 11 columns in an excel spreadsheet.  some of the fields imported into crystal as memo fields.  this is good.  others imported as a string field.  this is bad.  there are cells in those columns that have more than 255 characters, so they are getting cut off.

is there way to change a field type after it has been created?

Hi
Once the fields are displayed in the report, select the field or fields where the text is truncated,

Right Click --- Format Field ---- Common Tab--- Check  Can Grow Checkbox

Cheers

I have just resolved the same problem and discovered that a text formula value in the report was being truncated at 255 characters, due to an unmapped data field, revealed by the verify database option.

Once I had dealt with the unmapped data field, the truncated field immediately expanded its output beyond 255 characters.

I was using ODBC text driver and Crystal Reports XI R2.
