Have created a Crystal Report where we have created a parameter and setup the default values to pick out the vendor/supplier name from a table and for our purposes we have included all the names from the field.

One issue has arisen. Assuming there is a vendor we do not order from anymore we remove the vendor and vendor name from the table we are accessing but the name and vendor deleted still shows under the Default Values of the parameter. The parameter does not "refresh" automatically and the vendor in question is still in the list. Unless we don't include them in the list or if we exclude all the vendors and then reinclude them all in the list and save will the parameter refresh.

So is there a way to make the parameter refresh automatically when the report runs?

Hope this makes sense.

Yes.  You have to make it a dynamic parameter.  I normally make a separate query (command) to pull in the parameter data and use that as the data source for the dynamic parameter.

Thanks kevlray. I like to use the old V10 of crystal but it doesn't appear that the dynamic parameter is available with that version so will have to go to another one.

Thanks for the information.

I checked and it looks like dynamic parameters were introduced with Crystal Reports XI
