Can you not add a Command which calls the function and link it to you reports main dataset appropriately?

Does the function you want to call work from data that is in one of the tables in your report?  If so, you should be able to create a SQL Expression in the Field Explorer in Crystal.  I regularly use this to call a stored function to translate an employee ID to a user name without having to include the Employee table in the report.
