I have a report viewer in my vb.net 2008 application, if I try to print from the veiwer directly to the printer the right hand margins get wiped out, this does not happen in the preview or when I export to pdf.
 
If i print from the exported pdf it prints fine.  Did anyone ever have issues like this before?

Yes, when printing from the browser it's dependent upon the browser's capabilities, with regard to handling margins/overflow.
