We use a student information system that utilizes Crystal Reports (14.0.4.738 Full) for reporting. The vendor created several reports that can be used by all of our districts. By that I mean, they created one report, placed it in a central location, and all of our districts access that one report which shows their specific district data. Each district's data is stored in the same SQL Server instance, but in separate databases. When I open one of these reports and look at Set Datasource Location, it shows a data source that does not exist in our db. We contacted the vendor and they said this was a "crystal reports" issue. (??) How do I create one report that can be accessed by several users that allows them to see only data within their own DB?

As far I know there is not an easy way to do this. It might be possible (but rather unwieldy) is to create a sub-report for each location that would be mapped to each database. You then would have to have a parameter that would only 'show' the correct sub-report.

Hmm, the subreport option technically would work, but we have 26 districts to support, and creating 26 subreports doesn't sound very fun! Plus, I KNOW someone else has done this already without subreports! I have an appointment to speak with another developer next week who has done what I need to do. When I figure it out, I'll post the results here for others.
