    Posted: 11 Jun 2008 at 11:20pm

I have a CR 10, where there is a list of class names, group by type. I also include a field of record number (using special field: record number). However, I want the record number start at 1 for each type group for example:

Group: Math
1. Algebra
2. Statistic
3. Calculus

Group: Chemistry
1. Organic
2. Analytical
3. Inorganic

and so on.

The special field: record number, does not want to do that, it continues on the number through all the groups. Can anyone help me, please?

Hi

Create running totals

Go to Filed Explorer  Menu View --->Field Explorer

Then Select running totals node create new running total field

Then use the settings below

Select Filed to summarize ----any numeric field such as Id or primary key id field

Select Type of summary :-Count

Evaluate - Select for each record

Reset - On Change of Group i.e Math ,Chemistry

Place the running total field against Alegbra,Statistic .....

That should work

cheers
