    Posted: 11 Dec 2008 at 10:48pm
hi.
i am new to vb.net 2008 and using crystal reports that come along with it. amd using vb.net 2008 prof. i have created a report but now i want ot include a opening balance from another table but the thing is it should appear only once so i have put it in the report header but then the prob is that the page heading comes after the opening balances that is being displayed...and is looking very odd. can some one pls. guide me as to how i can arrange the things so that the op. balance comes only once. or the other way would b, as i have given the heading for the report header too so the page header should come 2nd page onward.

moreover the report is on a legal paper horizontal and when i view the report the name for the groups do not show on the screen whereas the printout is showing it. and if i reduce the size to say 75% then the group name show but then the item heads and the rest of the data disappear.
i hope i am making myself clear.
pls. help me out. thankx

I don't know about the view issue, but it sounds like you only the opening balance to show once per report.  If that is what you want, I would make either a group line or a detail line, which ever is most appropriate and put the opening balance in it.  Then I would go to the Section Expert for the that line and click on the formula button (x-1) and in that I would type:

Not OnFirstRecord

This should display the line ONLY for the first record, which is your opening balance, and hide it for all others.

Hope this helps.
