    Posted: 27 May 2009 at 8:17am
Hi, I have a problem that I hope someone might be able to help me with.
I am trying to insert a microsoft word document into a report as an OLE object (Using Crystal reports XI) and it works fine apart from the fact that the character spacing in the document becomes distorted in crystal, some characters appear with almost no space between them and some appear very far apart. I need to display the text in Arial 10 pts by the way, so monospace fonts are out of the picture.

Thanks in advance.

I have heard others complain of similar issues. If I remember correctly they ended up having to "recreate" the document directly in Crystal using text and formula objects rather than using the OLE insert.

Thanks for your input. I have googled the issue extensively, but strangely enough, I haven't found a reference to a similar issue at all.

It would be a shame if there was no way to solve it, because I can't quite see how to recreate something similar with a dynamic link to something that the users can update before running the report (including formatting).

If I remember correctly most of the complaints were generally about the way OLE objects were rendered via different report deployment options. It may not have been Word documents specifically. In general the objects just did not seem to match with the rest of the report in terms of font, spacing or alignment regardless of how the original object was put together. Sorry I can't give you much more than that.

Ok, maybe if have to start looking for another solution then, although I think this should be a known problem. Maybe it will get sorted at some point.

Thanks for your help.
