I am new to Crystal Reports and using it .NET.  I am designing a report that has 3 groups and a report footer.  Each of these groups/footer has about 25 records and a percentage field for each record.  Do I have to create a Formula field for each of one these?  An example----

I have individual entities within a county, these counties make up districts and the districts make up a state total.

I have entity A and entity B in County X
entity C and entity D in County Y
entity E and entity F in County Z

Counties XYZ make up District 1

I want to know how many beagles, Collies and poodles are in each entity
or each county or each district or in the state.  Either option should be allowed.  I tried to copy from group header one into group header 2, but that option does not seem to be available.  Is there a way to do this without creating a Formula field for each and every record in the headers.

If I'm reading your post right, you want to know how many of each breed of dog there is at each level - entity, county, district, state, and possibly the report as a whole - all in the same report.  Correct?

This is going to get a little complicated if you want the data all in the same report.

Group your report by state, then district, then county, then entity, then breed.  Add a "summary" to the breed section that will count the number of dogs for the breed.  This will get your counts at the entity level.

If you can do these in separate reports, you can follow this same technique and just remove the inner groups but leave the Breed group.  So, your district report would be grouped by: State, District, Breed.

If you must have all of this in the same report, you'll need to do a subreport in the footer at each group level using the same tables as your main report, linking on the groups at the current level or higher, and grouping the subreport on Breed so that you can count the number of dogs per breed at that group level.  For example, the subreport in the District group footer would link on State and District.

Thanks Dell,  I appreciate your time and answer.  I was hoping there would be a shorter way of doing this.  There are actually about 25 different fields I have to calculate for each report section so I guess this will take awhile.   BTW is there a way to copy and paste multiple fields, for example, the labels for each section will be the same, and there are about 25 of them.  Can they be all copied and pasted within the report at the same time?

Yes, they can all be copied and pasted at the same time.  You can either drag your mouse to select all that you want to copy or use CTRL-Click to select multiple items.

Are you trying to copy a mixed set of object?  (e.g., lines and text objects or fields)  That won't work.  Use CTRL-Click to select multiple text objects.  If "Copy" is not in the right-click menu, just press CTRL-C to copy and use CTRL-V to paste.

Also, when you try to paste multiple objects, you'll see the outline of the last object selected.  I usually try to select the top-left object last so that I can get the placement right.

Hmmm....It sounds like it's working differently in Visual Studio than it does in Crystal itself.
