Topic: Ignore grouping if parameter selected? Posted: 04 Sep 2007 at 11:06am
Using:
Oracle 9i
Crystal 10
I am trying to alter an existing Crystal report so it ignores grouping if a specific parameter is selected. Here is an example of what I am working with. On a table there is a column called X with values Xsub1, Xsub2, Xsub3, etc. There is grouping on the report on column X. The user can select a parameter that includes Xsub2 and Xsub4 (other similar parameters exist that include other values from the X column). If this is selected, two reports are generated (one for each group: Xsub2 and Xsub4). What we really want is one report with the combined information for Xsub2 and Xsub4. How is (or is it) possible to do this in Crystal Reports 10? FYI - When the report was initially created the main body of the report was placed in the Group Footer so if the Group Footer is suppressed the content of the report is suppressed, too.

So you want the Xsub2 and Xsub4 data combined together instead of grouped separately, or do you want the report to show Xsub2 grouped together and Xsub4 grouped together on one report with no Xsub1 or xSub3 etc.?
There are ways either one of these situations could be handled, but I need more information.

The first case is what I am looking for (the data combined instead of grouped separately). Now if a parameter with Xsub1 and Xsub3 is selected, I want that to remain as it is (just Xsub1 grouped together and Xsub3 grouped together on the same report).

I should have been more specific. Is everything entered in one parameter or do you have a separate parameter for each options? Please give me a list of the parameter names.
