Hi All!

This is my first post and i dont know if this is the correct place to place my post.

I have 4 countries that each one has an Enterprise Server (iSeries) running our ERP (JDEDWARDS). Each country has the same ERP S/W. At the present i have around 500 crystal reports written in CR8.5 .Each country has its own set of reports.

The plan is the following:

-Purchase of CR Server XIR2 in the mother country

-Rewrite the reports using repository e.t.c

-DISTRIBUTE the repository to the other servers (one in every country) when the reports are finally ready.

-Minor Local changes in reports  and repository in every country.

Questions:

1) Can i make the repository here in Greece and then import it in a new server in the other countries?

2) How much memory and cpu consumption can i excpect per user? That is to determine what server configuration i need for 20 concurrent users accessing a DB2 on the iseries.

Please i am on a great need of this redesign and i am having second thoughts mainly because i dont have a clear answer as to if i can distribute my repository at a later stage or not..

If i cant then this means that i have to do it all over again per country...Which seems a little stupid for me...

Thank you all

Unfortunately, Hilfy is the forum expert in this area and she is speaking at the BOJB conference right now. Hopefully, she will have time to check the forum this week and add some input into your problem.

I don't think you're going to be able to do what you're talking about with Crystal Server for several reasons.

1.  Crystal Server comes with licenses for only 5 concurrent users.  So, you can't have 20 users connecting to it at the same time.

2.  You can't have one server with multiple repositories (which is what I think you're trying to do.)  Any server can only have one repository.

For more technical info about Crystal Server, go here:  http://www.businessobjects.com/pdf/whitepapers/cr_server_xi_functional_overview.pdf

You might want to look into CrystalReports.com for report delivery, or the new CrystalDecisions product which is a smaller version of the full-blown BusinessObjects Enterprise product.

thanks for the reply!!

1) i will buy 4 packls of 5 cals to install to the server, thats how i am gonna have 20 licenses.

2) I dont want to have 2 repositories in the same server.I want to transfer the repository from one server to a new one in a different country. can i do that?

Elias.

Will you have a separate Crystal Server in that country?  If so, then I think this is doable.  If not, then it's not going to work.

Also, you'll have to have separate licenses for each server.
