Hi,

We are running Crystal report 11 32-bit on Windows 2000 server. It runs well for first 32561 pages and then one message box pops up saying " logging off session" and then it logs off the session automatically. I checked in event viewer also but could not get anything worth mentioning. We are unable to understand the exact cause of it. Does Crystal report 11 has limitations on number of pages it generates?

I would appreciate your guidance in this regard.

sounds more likes it's a database issue...logging off the session sounds like closing the database connection.

CR could have a limit, but no one that I can remember has mentioned it, though no one has mentioned printing such a large report.

Unless absolutely necessary...why would you print such a large report.  No one is going to read it...at least I wouldn't.

But if that's the spec...but I would try to print a smaller report as 6.5+ reams of paper seems a bit excessive and wastefull.

Thanks for the reply Lockwelle. yes, I know nobody is going to read it but thats what and that how client wanted the report. I will check if there is any timeout settings on the database side and will run the report with smaller batches which runs well. Anything specific to be checked at the database level apart from session timeout related settings?

TIA

no, i'm just guessing.

there could be something in CR...
it could be that CR expects the data to be returned within a time limit.  If it is being retrieved via an application, there might be a timeout there...or if it is using ODBC, maybe (it's been years since I had to look at an ODBC connection)...

we gather the data via an app and push the data to the report via Ado.Net, so any session issues would be from SQL

just some thoughts that could be investigated.

I am definitely not an expert at any of this.
