Topic: Fields writing over other fields Posted: 25 Oct 2007 at 8:34am
I have a set of database fields and text fields for titles above each in a report in the detailed section. The fields are overwriting each other. Is there a way to automatically push down the fields so there is segregation between them? Do I need to rethink this and make the database fields larger and use suppression if they are blank? If so how exactly would I do that? I am rather a novice at using Crystal (we have 9). Anyhelp would be greatly appreciated or I will try to elaborate more if the question I ask seems vague. Thanks!

Not seeing your report, it's a bit tough to make recommendations. But overall, when fields overlap each other it is helpful to create new sections (A, B, C, etc.) because sections never overlap. You can put one row of data in the first section and the next row of data in the second section.

Wow Brian a simple and effective solution. I actually split sections yesterday but didn't test it with imbedded fields as got caught up in grouping and the Auto Report Generator which would trash my existing fields. Thanks this will probably do the trick. I have bookmarked the site as a great reference.
