I want to list our sales total by the day in a column but I also want the report to show 2006 total sales by day in a column and 2005 sales by day. I can get it to report total sales by day for that time period by only in one column. How do I get it arranged in columns for each year.

Have you tried using a cross-tab report? That lets you summarize data based upon groups (such as year).
