Hi there

I want to set up option parameters for the user to choose if they want to group a list of records by either:

Record Identifier (an ordinary string field)
or
Start Date (a TimeDate field)

When I try to enter a formula for Grouping, it does not like the parts that contain the TimeDate field.

Can anyone suggest how I can present this field so that I can use it for a grouping option?

thanks
Karen

I am assuming that you are using a IF statement.  If so, then remember that the results of the IF statement have to be the same data type.

If conditiion then string else string, not if condition then string else date.

OK thanks kevlray,

In that case I'll leave the existing group structure in place and just apply a recording sorting parameter.. see if that works!

cheers

Of course you can always convert one of the values (i.e, date -> string).
