First off, what version of Crystal Reports are you using.  Second how long is long.  I know that early versions of CR has a limit of 256 characters per text box.  I do not recall what the new limit is.  Also one work around is have several text boxes and paste parts of the longer text into them.  Sometimes this not a good solution due how the text is laid out.
