Topic: Export to RTF or DOC Posted: 17 Mar 2008 at 10:10am
Hi All. Have a quick question, probably really dumb and easy but I've got no idea.
I was tasked with converting our Access DB with its reports to SQL Server and VB.net. I've gone ahead and done it all, recreated the reports and everything with Vb.net 2008 and the crystal reports that comes with it. Now I'm getting complaints because users cant hightlight the text they've exported to RTF or DOC like they where able to do when exporting from Access.
Currently they can highlight, but their hightlights include box like fields instead of just being words on a line.

They need to be exporting to MS Word (editable). The other MS Word option exports like a form and is much more difficult to deal with. I do this type of export when I'm prototyping reports so that I can put a page or two in the functional specs without having to type it all in, and this is the method I use so that I can copy an paste from the export to the specs.

Thanks for the reply Hilfy.
I'm using the controls built into vb.net and crystal reports for Visual Studio 2008 package when deploying my application. I only see RTF, DOC, PDF, RPT and 2 types of XLS options for the file type. And in case it matters I'm running office 2003 and so will all the other users.

Unfortunately, I don't have any experience working with VS 2008 yet. My response was based on the options that are available in Crystal and in BusinessObjects Enterprise.
So, I'm not sure where to tell you to go from here.
