Hello,

my problems is: I need to make shift table for employees as followed:

Rows: Employee name
Column: Date

I use cross tab and use field number_of_hours as summarize field. But, this is not all I need. I need that in summarized field would be displayed number of working hours if employee was on work that day, and string if employee was out of job that day (abbreviation of reason for missing from work place) counting zero 0 as value for summarize.

In short: It displays string, and count it as number in total.

Summarize field only accept numerical values, so I don't know is it possible?

For example:

Employee John was working in january 8 hours every day, except weekends. One day he was in bussines trip (BT), and two day he was absent for vacation (VC). Now, what it should look like:

                                                         

          1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 ... 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31        Total

John   8 8 8 8 8       8 8  8   8  BT  8 ...  8   8   8   8            VC VC         summ

Blank spaces are for weekend.

Summarize field in crosstab does not allow to enter non-numeric values as I know. Maybe, it can be made by some formula?

What I need: Depending of type of day, it should be displayed number or string, but in back-end it every string should be countable as a zero for total sum function. Problem is with displaying a string.
Or, I can exclude total function and make sum of values in database procedure, but I don't know is it possible to display string in summarize field.
