Hi everyone,

I'm all new here but I'm confronted with a problem at work that I just can't solve so I figured I'd try my luck on the allmighty internet.
I have an MS Access database with some tables in it that I use for some of my reports. When I use the report designer, everything works just fine. When I save and want to schedule the report, I get a "Failed: PEStartPrintJob : Unable to open database".

How can the designer have full access but when scheduled it does not work? There is no password on the database.

What are you using to schedule the report?  Is it on a different computer than the one that the designer is on?  Is your Access database on your computer or on the network?  How are you  connecting to the database? (i.e., what type of connection are you using?)

I suspect that you're scheduling from a different machine and that the user ID that the scheduling service run under doesn't have access to the folder where the database file is located.

Hi Hilfy/Dell,
Yes, that would be my guess too. The Access database is on a different network than Crystal. And let me say that I'm using a very old version of Crystal, version 7 from the year 2000. I'm connecting to the database in just the regular way and so the scheduling.

The strange thing is that it ran the first 3 scheduled reports just fine. But when I tried it again a few days later, I got the 'cannot open database' error.
But how do I find out under what name the scheduler tries to open the database? Once I know that, I can simply give access to that ID.

Thanks,
Jerome

What software are you using to schedule the report?
