Topic: parameter prompting Posted: 08 Mar 2012 at 1:52am |
i am unable to get crystal reports viewer 2008 to prompt for new parameters. i have a report developed in seagate crystal reports that i was able to save in Crystal Reports XI. it is set to NOT save data with report. but when i try to open the report in the viewer, i get a message saying i have to set the report to save with data. anyone have any ideas?

there is an option that might be helpful
options>reporting tab
check box next to discard saved data on open

but if i do that then then it won't prompt me for the parameters when i open the report in reports viewer, right? that's what i need. and i should be able to do that with crystal reports viewer i've read in a few places that this works for other people thanks again

well that is why i told you to do this options>reporting tab
check box next to discard saved data on open
with this option checked even if you putt save data with report it should still ask for parameters when you open the report.

okay, i tried every possible combination. there are two places where you can set to save with data. anyway. the result is either the report is opened with the saved data, even though i have checked it to discard saved data on open. or i get the message saying i need to save data with the report. i may have to give up on this. i'm thinking maybe because the report was developed in a much older version of crystal thank you so much for your help.

The free Crystal viewer CANNOT refresh data. If you wish to refresh data, get one of the free or inexpensive 3rd-party Crystal Reports viewers listed at http://kenhamady.com/bookmarks.html

view, e-mail, export, burst, distribute, and schedule Crystal Reports.
