    Posted: 09 Oct 2012 at 3:48am
Hi all, we are using Oracle database and we store the file location, where pictures and some other files are saved. what I want to do in the report is to add dynamic picture(s) if there are in the file location. The filenames or pictures are NOT stored in the database.
1. Is it possible to add pictures in the report when the location is stored in the database?
2. If possible, should I make a sub-report, so I can supress easily if no pictures are present in the file location?

Thank you

Hi

Yes it is possible to insert pictures in your report.

--Go in insert menu and click on picture and select any picture.
--Now right click on the picture and go in format graphic-- click on picture tab
--Your will a formula button with 'picture location' click on that and give the path or file which contains the path of the picture.

To suppress a picture, right click on the picutre and --common-- suppress-- give a condition which can suppress the picture
Thanks,

To add to Sastry's response:
- You need to include the actual file name in the picture location - if that's not stored in your data, Crystal will not just open whatever image file might be in the folder.

- If an image file is specified but the image is not found, Crystal will default the picture to whatever picture was used when the image was first put on the report.  There's no way to tell when the report is running that the file isn't there, so if the data says there should be a file, but the file isn't there, there is no way to suppress the image.  To account for this I usually have an image that just says "Picture not found" that I use for my default.

I'm trying to figure out crystal reports by myself and so I am a little clueless. I use a real estate data base called REA or REALNEX. I am attempting to create a report that I can load into REA with certain fields that will be generated when I run my report template. I am attempting to include a picture field that will be filled in varying on each property's picture. Is there a way to create a picture path that will fill in when I run the crystal report template in REA? I'm not sure if I am making sense...

Please ask this in a new thread instead of tagging on to then of a thread that's almost three years old.

When you post your question, please let us know which version of Crystal you're using, what type of database (SQL Server, Oracle, etc.) you're using and what type of field the image is in (blob, image, etc.)

Thanks!
