Topic: Dynamic parameter and repository Posted: 09 Apr 2008 at 12:19pm
Hi all,
I created a dynamic prompt and while running in CR everything works fine.
Once I am trying to save report on server (infoview & business objects) I am getting error message "Failed read data from report... Reason: Failed to read parameter object"
Now my question is should I add dynamic parameter to repository to be able to run report from the server, or there is any way to save report to server as I would with static parameters?
OK, I found some info myself. I am going to post it here in case someone else need it. It looks like dynamic prompts dont have same functionality in CR and BO.

All lists of values that are used by managed reports are based on Business Views; however Business Views can themselves be based on command objects. In this way, lists of values can be indirectly based on command objects.

I was able to get the parameters to show using a setup that had the provider be SQLOLEDB, not SQLNCLI. The user will need to log in for each dynamic parameter (not cool) but at least it runs. I will do some more searching.
I am running CR 2008, CR Server 2008, and hitting SQL 2005/2008.
