    Posted: 17 Feb 2009 at 8:17am
My company has been using Crystal Reports XI for over two years with an Access based software. The software company is now converting to SQL to make processing faster. I have been able to connect Crystal to the SQL software using OLE DB connection. However, is there a way to convert the current Access database reports to read information from the SQL data files?

When I try "Set Database Location" Crystal will not "update" to the new SQL data files. We use several databases within our company. Even after I created report for one SQL data file, I have not been able to determine an easy way to use that report for another data SQL file.

I'm hoping I'm missing an easy step in the processes describe. Any tips would be appreciated

I had problems with Set Location before I figured out how to use it.  You have to do one of the following to get it to update:

1.  Specifically select the old connection on the top AND the new connection on the bottom and click on Update.  This should update all of the tables.  It's not enough to just open the new connection - you have to select it too.

2.  Select the table on the top AND the corresponding table on the bottom and click on Update.  This will update just a table.
