    Posted: 17 Feb 2009 at 4:22am
I am trying to arrange the legend for a stacked bar chart so it displays in alphabetical order eg:

A1 - Chargeable Time
B1 - Training
C1 - Absence

The actual output depends on the order in which the items appear on the report so can appear in any order.

For pie charts this happens automatically but for a stacked bar chart I have been unable to force the order.

Can anyone help?

Thanks, Darren

Hi Darren

Create a crosstab then select A1 field for columns and Chargeable Time for rows select summary field as required,Then Place the chart in the report

once done select the crosstab icon in  chart expert then in subdivided by select chargeable time

hope that helps suppress the cross tab....let me know if it works, can you post some sample data.....

Cheers
Rahul

Thanks Rahul. It worked a treat.

The legend now appears in a fixed alphabetical order.

Much appreciated,

Darren

Hi.

I'm experiencing a similar problem. Unfortunately in my chart I have two two "On Change Of" values.

I can't seem to get this method to work for me. Do I need some additional steps.

Scenario:
  • On change of TimeStamp [grouped weekly]
  • On change of Action [what I'm trying to sort alphabethically
  • Show Value is a Distinct Count

Whats happening in my chart is that the values in the first week determines the order in the Legend. If there was just one chart I could live with this but the chart is in the group header and there are eight groups.

Any ideas ...

Thanks.

David.

Isn't that always the way. You figure it out 30 minutes after you make a post.

I was trying to reuse my existing chart instead of creating a new one.

Thanks for the tip Clap Star.
