	When I saw the xls in the book, I assumed it was due to the time it was written. I have Excel 2007 (which uses xlsx) and VS 2008.. So I tried the extension of .xlsx.. It thinks it is corrupted, but if I rename it to .xls it is ok. Has there been no upgrade to the Excel?? especially considering Excel 2007 came out before VS 2008???

	Ah, but the version of Crystal that comes with VS2008 is Crystal 10 which pre-dates Excel 2007 by several years. AFAIK, even Crystal 2008 does not yet support the xlsx format. -Dell
