I use CR XI, I don't remember the path, but it isn't too hard to find. Go to the report/template expert, look at one of the files and do a search for it.
Templates aren't too smart. They will pretty much overwrite your report, if you have started it, but they give a great starting point if you always lay out the report the same way.
Mine has where the title goes, and the footer information. It just cuts down on that repeative typing, that really doesn't change.
Just create a report skeleton that you will use, then save it in the same directory as the template that you found. Next time you go to the template expert, there is your template.
