Topic: Reimporting Subreport problem Posted: 25 Oct 2009 at 3:40pm
Here's the problem I'm getting. Whenever I re import any of my subreports, Crystal is changing the record selection of the subreport by adding additional selection criteria, usually trying to match up non-related fields thereby making the sub-report display nothing.
I've tried this in both Crystal Reports X and 9. Here are the steps that I take, maybe someone can point out an error in how I'm going about doing this.
First - I create a simple report, making a new parameter, and assign the parameter to a database field in the record selection. Test and it works fine. Save and close.
Second - I create another report, making a new parameter, insert as a subreport the first report, right-click on it and selected Change subreport Links. Select the main reports parameter from the left hand list and move it to the right, select the sub-reports parameter in the bottom left drop down list and click ok. Test and it works fine. I double click on the subreport to open it up and look at the record selection and it's the same as the original as in First step.
Third - I right click on the subreport in the main reports design window, click on re-import subreport, and say yes to the message box. Run report again and it is either return blank data or wrong data (depending on what tables and parameters are being used). I double click the subreport to open it up, look at the record selection and it now has an additional criteria as well as the original
I'm curious to see if anyone else has had this problem or can even duplicate it, and if anyone has any ideas as to whats causing it or any workarounds.
