Quote chris Replybullet Topic: Indexing Materialised View
    Posted: 15 Feb 2010 at 3:58am

Hi all,

I have created a number of materialised views to help improve the reporting from our database. Writing reports from these views is now very simple and is also extremely quick in both running and exporting....

However, as soon as I link the view to another table the report is very slow at exporting.

I am therefore thinking that Indexing the views could possibly improve this but I do not really have any idea how to do this.

For info, there are 2 fields in each of the views that I use for linking - person id and case reference number.

Can anybody comment on whether indexing is the way forward or is there anything else that should be considered.

Any help greatly appreciated.

There is no way to directly measure the performance of a report in CR,  it my case it has been by trial and error.  I use grouping on server a lot and I set up bursting indexes.   Both of these seem to improve the performance, but I have no way of measuring it.
