How can I put a border around the detail section?
I heard that it wasn't a good idea to explicitly draw a box because what I see on the page may not be what is printed, but I'm not sure of the details.

well, you definitely put a line at the top(it's not moving) and for the sides, you can select the 'extend to bottom...' option, so the only problem is drawing a line across the bottom, and there you can use the 'move to bottom...' option. (I just saw that they have different options for horizontal vs vertical lines...spiffy)

no, not a clue about account printing.
If you are worried about the height changing, the options on lines take care of that. If you need to change anything dynamically, it seems that lines never have that 'ability' like other objects in CR.
