I am placing an order for the Crystal Reports XI Encyclopedia book today.  I would like to ask more of an advice question.

I use Crystal Reports to create Reports off the same Data Set and Data Range.  We are using an archaic HelpDesk System so the same Data is presented in several ways.

How many requests were opened by my Level 1
How many requests were closed by my Level 2
How long did it take to close Requests, etc etc.

I accomplished this using 7 Subreports, this makes lining up data and fields and field sizes insane!

Since I have discovered Running Totals and how they work I figured now I can dump ALL of these reports into one master report.

Pull the Data Set into a hidden section and then use Running Totals to pull different presentations of the same data.

HERE IS MY QUESTION

I have always struggled to get the Fields Lined up and the Fields to be the same size to make the reports look pristing.

I have tried veritical guides and snap to grids, but there has to be a better way.  In the end I may be creating 80 or so running fields to get what I want to so I want it to be good from the beginning.

How do you guys get the data fields to be the same size?

Can you tell me how the following relates to aligning data?  How do you "dump all of the reports into 1 master report"?  Is the "hidden section" the subreports?  ~Bet you couldn't guess I'm confused :-(
