    Posted: 21 Aug 2011 at 3:21pm
Hi!

I'm running CR 2008.

I have a standard report with 4 groups. Each group has a sum and I would like to sum all the groups.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thank you in advance for your time.

Depends how the data was setup.

I would try creating a grandSum RT and just never have it reset. If the data is more complex I would maybe try shared variables.

You don't need a Running Total for this.  Instead of doing sum({table.field}, {table.groupfield}) just do sum({table.field}).

Using the Summary expert, you just do a grand total.

In this case you're not summing the group totals, you're summing all of the detail data that goes into making the group totals.

Thank you for taking the time to respond!
Since the data is very complex, a shared variable formula was the option that worked.

Thanks again.

Hi,
I have created a Running Total to evaluate on a formula and to reset on each order. The Running total is working fine.
Now i want to use this Running total in another formula. but when i went to formula editor, i can't find this running total? Anyone know how i could solve this issue?
I created the Running total to create a Std Cost for each order based on a certain criteria. I then wanted to compare Actual cost for each order against the result of this running total by comparing the Actual Cost minus Std Cost (Running Total) to get a variance Total
