I am VERY new to Crystal Reports and I am using 2008.  I had a report given to me that was created by a tech at our software vendor during a training visit.  I would like to "disect" it and re-create it so I can learn a little more than the bascis I already know about CR.  Is there a way to do that?  I have used fields I see checked in the field explorer to some success but my report does not turn out the same.  For example in his version I hit F5 to run it and a pop up comes up that allows me to select a date range from a calendar.  Mine does not have that feature.  I am not a programer nor do I know how to write code so maybe I'm out of luck.  If anyone can help a noobe  I would appreciate it,  Thanks so much.

If the report uses parameters it prompts for using existing values for the params or changing the values.

For disecting the report, look at the report given to you, in the field explorer under parameter fields. You will either see 2 date params , or one date param set to allow a date range.

If you look inside the select expert you will likely see that the date range is being used to limit the data there.

Note that you will not be prompted for entering a value into a crystal parameter that has not been inserted into the report design somewhere.

E.g. just because you create a paramter in the Field Explorer does not mean you get the pop up when you run the report (or refresh the report with F5).
