I'm working on a report in CR10Pro that prints a list of appointments.  The employee takes their page of the report with them into the field.  Each data line is about 3/4" in height and I have each line separated with a horizonal rule. Often, after the report is printed, they have to add additional appointments or data to the report by hand.

What I want to accomplish is this:    I want to have CR continue to print horizontal rules to fill the remainder of the page, resulting in 1 or more blank lines (depending, of course, on how many appointments are printed from the dataset) following the data.

Suggestions?

Thanks for giving this question your consideration!

What about creating a page header section with all the lines pre-populated for a full page? Then for the Detail section, don't have it print any lines itself,. For the Page Header have it use Underlay Following Sections. That way this simulates a watermark where the watermark is your pre-formatted lines.

You're WAY over my head as such a newbie CR guy, but I'll go look for it. (Is there a page in your book about using Underlay Following Sections?... I just sent a requisition for the Encyclopedia I to purchasing. [Autographed edition, of course :-) ])

Hi richmondjim,

1. Expand the size of the Page Header Section to about the size a page.

2. Use the Line Drawing tool (Insert Line) to draw 30+ lines, depending on the total possible number of Detail Lines on your page.

3. Right-click on the Report Header Section and select the Format Section, or Section Expert (depending on your version of CR.

4. Highlight the Report Header and check the "Underlay Following Sections"

As Brian said, this will cause the Header Section to act as a watermark and your detail lines will 'overlay' the lines that you drew in the Header area.

It will take a little finessing to get the lines in place, but this does work.

Regards,
