Hi.  We have a project that I'm hoping Crystal Reports can help us with, but I'm not experienced enough to know for certain.

We'd like to be able to automatically generate a PDF report for each row of an Excel spreadsheet.  If possible we'd also like to have the filename for each PDF match to one of the data fields in the Excel file.

Is this feasible?  If so, which version of Crystal Reports would we need?

Any help you can give me would be appreciated.

You can have CR create a report which places each row of the spreadsheet on it's own page (make the Details section large enough to fill the whole page), but it will export the entire report to a single PDF file. There are tools that do this for CR. You can Google Visual Cut for more info.

Oh - if you need to buy Crystal Reports, then you should get the latest version, Crystal Reports 2008. And if you need to learn how to create reports, you should check out my book Crystal Reports Encyclopedia.

Thanks for the feedback!  That helps a lot.  I'll take a look at Visual Cut and see if it will solve our problem.

Hi There - as a 'newbie' to Crystal Reports,I'm inheriting a number of crystal reports developments, some in version 8, some in version 9.

I'm looking for training courses - almost all version 10 or XI.

Therefore first thing will be to weigh up best method of upgrading the reports to a newer version.
 
Are reports in version 8 AND version 9 easily upgradeable to both version 10 and XI, and if so which version would be easier /preferable to upgrade  to? (and therefore train in?)
 
Any guidance much appreciated!
